From: Guido van Yperen Dear Peter, How are you doing? I would like to let you know that we are now fully using the Serafim
Future software for a project of a Nigerian client. One advantage is the ability to transform production data easily from an OFM database into a clarifying interface using a MS Access query. A typical oil field is now structured in a simple way subdivided by reservoirs and flow stations. For the beginner it is handy to insert nodes, reservoirs and to add wells to the reservoirs manually in the 'Future-mode'. For the more advanced user it is handier to specify all parameters into MS Access first before starting the program. In this way a full field model could be set up within half an hour. Another advantage for us is the way of fitting decline curves. In other software packages the fitting of decline curves can be exhaustive as the exact period and points need to be specified. Future behaves user-friendly as the curves can be fit manually by drawing, comparing to the other two cross-plots and adjusting them until a satisfactory production forecast is obtained. Furthermore a strong point is the way of handling the output data. Output of tables and plots is very straightforward as well as the *.jpg export to check your analysis. We find it very handy to be able to choose between wells, reservoirs or fields to plot as output for MS Excel. The resulting rate-versus-time plots are very suitable for reporting to clients as well.
